1. Coat your mouth. “Prep your lips with a balm, like Peter Thomas Roth Lips to Die For Pink Bombshell Lip Balm, and then blot once using a tissue to remove any excess,” says Cosenza.
2. Brush on your base. “Sweep a gel-based, cherry lipcolor over your mouth, like Maybelline Color Whisper in “Cherry on Top,” with a fluffy makeup brush,” says Cosenza. “Using a hydrating, sheer lipstick and fluffy brush combo gives you that diffused appearance where your look isn’t too harsh, yet some color is still imparted onto your lips.”
3. Press on your color. “Pat a deeper, more-pigmented red lipcolor onto the center of your lips using a flat eyeshadow brush,” she adds. “To concentrate the color onto the middle of your pout, it helps to pucker up during the application, and then only apply the intense shade to the center of your lips only.” For intense color, model Natalie Zfat used OCC Lip Tar in “NSFW.”
4. Blend. “Using the the fluffy brush you used in step two, lightly blend where the lighter and darker shades meet to get that gradated look,” Cosenza says.
5. Add concealer. “To accentuate the diffused effect around the edges of your lips, dab a little bit of liquid concealer — Natalie used YSL Touch Eclat Radiant Touch Pen —  at the corners of your mouth,” she notes. “This enhances the ombré effect — essentially, you want your lips to look as though you’ve been sucking on a red popsicle.”
6. Pucker up! Because, girl, you’re ready for a selfie.
